Oregon Scientific THT312 Outdoor Clock and Thermometer Review
Outdoor clocks and thermometers are popular but you need to be careful which one you buy as many of them are not really weatherproof. Although they may be advertised as ‘outdoor clocks’ or ‘garden clocks’ many of them need to be placed under a covering so that they do not get heavy rain or be brought inside if the temperature drops below about 41F. Before writing this review we looked at a range of outdoor clocks and thermometers. Many of them are attractive to look at but are not durable and not really designed for the outdoors whatever the advertisements say! We chose to review this Oregon clock and thermometer because it is durable and works.
The Oregon Scientific THT312 has a ten foot cable with a probe that can be placed outside while the unit itself is placed in a convenient place under cover. It has an easy to read LED display that is backlit and readings in either Fahrenheit or Celsius and 12 or 24 hour display. It is not a fancy clock but functional and can be mounted inside with the weather proof probe outside so that you can monitor the temperature from inside your home. It also has a built in alarm function. There is a memory for high and low readings. The probe works in temperatures from -58 to 158F and sends data back to the unit every ten seconds. It also displays the indoor temperature with a range of 32 to 122 F. It sells for around $13 at amazon.

Are there any disadvantages?
A few people who gave this product a low rating disliked the wire sensor. Be aware that it needs to be fed through a window or through a hole to the outside. Not as pretty as conventionally designed outdoor clocks but effective!
Conclusion
The Oregon Scientific THT312 CLock Thermometer is great value for money and will last for years giving you accurate readings. You will need a convenient window to feed the probe outside or drill a hole in a door or wall.
